Fathers pave the way and inspire greatness.

Happy Father’s day! to all the men who show up daily and contribute to a child’s development and growth. Raising and mentoring a child isn’t an easy job, especially after a hard days work, but the rewards are great. Great and supportive fathers inspire children to do great things and become great people. They’re upfront and center in a child’s life regardless of biology, being the role model that makes the world of difference. My dad choose to be apart of my life and raise me as his own, during my formulate years. Encouraging me to reach for the stars and color outside the lines. He was the first great storyteller in my life, weaving magical tales that sparked the imagination and transported me to mythical lands. Thanks Dad!

Mothers Day Treats…..Everyday.

Mothers day has come and gone, but a mom’s work is never done.  Busy moms always deserve a guilt free treat. Facials or Massages are super relaxing and a great way to unwind.  Cupcakes however the perfect antidote for just about everything.  The cupcake culture is thriving and I’ll single hand-idly keep it going, if necessary.

These are some of the best cupcakes in the US that I’ve found so far…The hunt continues.
Feel free to clue me in, on the little bites of heaven in your part of the country.
Hands down, the best cupcakes and best decorated cakes anywhere!
Now if I could only convince them to ship or open shops in other states besides
N.Y….Don’t deprive the rest of the country!

Would live here if I could. Since moving to Texas, it’s become my ‘go to’ place, after a stressful day at work, or as a reward after a brisk work out.

Life Happens

Ever had one of those days that you wished you could do over in a different way? One day that just took a weird turn and never quite got back on track.
The poor economy recently caught up with this household and both my husband and myself became casualties of a massive re-structuring plan. One of the perils of both of us working for the same corporation, I guess – I don’t plan on making that mistake again. How did this happen? Must be a full moon out.  While there are doubts and concerns about an uncertain future, this temporary situation will not defeat me. This an opportunity to get going in a different direction. God is definitely trying to tell me something.
Time to get my butt into gear and get my ‘Tomorow list’ started ‘Today’ while getting my career back on track.
Now, for a little while, i’ll have time to do alot of things:
-Vollunteer at my son’s school and at church.
-Take small business seminars at the SBDC-I strongly recomend this for anyone starting a small business.
-Organize stuff around the house and purge – Craigs list or Garage sale
-Get creative and paint my canvases
-Keep up with my gardening- unfortunately the lawn and flower beds doesn’t weed itself.
-Exercise regularly or at least attempt to.
-Make time for friends- really important, many times we get so caught up with life
and neglect to have face time with those we love.
-and most of all….stop waiting on a Publisher to decide on one of my picture book manuscripts and publish them myself!

Life happens for me…not to me_ Oprahs life class

Be like Water

In the current economic climate, one out of five families are opting for relocation. “Going where the jobs are”.
Taking this leap of faith is a huge decision, hoping it will result in a good fit for Job, Schools and
Lifestyle. Relocation can be stressful for children who might have concerns about leaving friends or
fitting in. A best practice is to keep them in the loop and make the whole process a fun adventure.
As the wife of a veteran, I know that military families face this every two to four years. They not only
deal with the challenge of ajusting to new environments but also the re-integration to the mobilized solder into the family unit, after long absences. During which time, keeping the home life running normaly usually falls upon the spouse. While there’s usually a period of difficulty and adjustment for all re-located families, there are also advantages; new experiences, new friends to be made, new places to discover and many times an improvement in the quality of life. Being flexible and open to new experiences is the key.
For my family it’s been mostly a positive experience, but at times I reminisce about favorite aspects
about the places i’ve lived.
-Jamaicas Tropical Sunsets, the music and foods.
-Times square and The New York Skyline at night.
-The Long Beach boardwalk, taking a stroll or bike ride with my guys.
-The Freeport Nautical Mile with it’s fresh fish markets and dockside cafe’s.
-Most of all I miss….the wonderful friends and family still in those places.
They send me care packages so I can have the best of all worlds. “Thanks Guys!”

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash.
Be water, my friend.”
